Is taking IELTS Tests for immigration necessary?
English is the national or main speaking language in UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand & Ireland. If you’re looking to migrate to any of these countries, you need to clear IELTS or PTE.
What’s the IELTS Exam Pattern?
By IELTS, the proficiency of the candidate to read, write, understand & answer in English is checked. The duration or time allowed to answer is 2.45 hrs. This test is divided into four patterns. These are:
- Listening- 30 minutes
- Reading-60 minutes
- Writing-60 minutes
- Speaking-15 minutes
What is the minimum score required to clear IELTS?
Different countries & even different Institutes in the same country have set out their own band requirements. In any case, the minimum requirement is as under.
- Australia: 6.5
- Canada: 6.0
- Ireland: 6.0
- UK: 6.5
- USA: 7.0
- New Zealand: 6.5
Is there any exam other than IELTS that I can choose?
Yes. You can also choose PTE. PTE exam score is accepted by educational institutes and organizations all over the world.
What’s the difference between IELTS & PTE Exams?
IELTS exam is designed by the Cambridge University and conducted by the British Council & IDP EILTS Australia. You have the option to choose whether to take a test on paper or computer. The duration of the test is 2.45 hours.
PTE test is conducted by Pearson VUE PLC. This test is exclusively computer-based. Pattern of the test is the same but the duration is 3 hours.
Which test is easier to clear?
IELTS has many advantages over PTE. For example, in the Speaking Test, you are face-to-face with the examiner. There is no dummy person talking to you. If you’re unable to understand some questions, you can request to repeat that. Examiners are cooperative and won’t decline your request.
Secondly, you get an option to choose between typing on a computer or writing on paper. Suppose you are not good in typing on a computer, you have an option to write on the paper.
You won’t get such facilities if you appear in PTE.
